CB West Ice Hockey: Hard Work, Accountability, and Team-First Unity

The CB West Ice Hockey club focuses on shaping each player into a well-rounded individual, with a strong emphasis on team achievements. Our players are known for their hard work, accountability, and willingness to prioritize the team above all. This shared spirit of unity is what drives our success on the ice.

The Central Bucks West Ice Hockey Club is committed to the growth of our student-athletes, both personally and athletically. We provide a competitive, supportive space where sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, and academic excellence are key. Our goal? To turn out players who are stars not just on the rink but in the classroom and throughout their communities.

Our Program Structure:

CB West Ice Hockey competes proudly in the Suburban High School Hockey League (SHSHL), one of the premier high school hockey leagues in Pennsylvania. We field three dedicated teams to serve players at different developmental stages:

Varsity — Our flagship high school team (grades 9–12), focused on competitive play in the SHSHL Continental Division (AA level), skill refinement, and preparing athletes for higher-level opportunities.
Middle School AAA — An advanced developmental team for top middle school talent, emphasizing elite skill-building, competitive experience, and preparation for varsity-level play.
Middle School A — A foundational team designed to nurture emerging players, build core fundamentals, and foster a love for the game in a positive, supportive environment.

This multi-team structure allows us to support athletes from middle school through high school, ensuring every player receives the appropriate level of challenge and guidance to reach their full potential.

Our Coaching Staff:

Our program is led by experienced, highly respected coaches who are well-known throughout the local hockey community for their expertise, dedication, and player-centered approach.

Frank Blust serves as Head Coach for Varsity, bringing proven leadership, strategic insight, and a focus on fundamentals to guide our high school team.
Matt Montagna heads the Middle School AAA team, contributing deep game knowledge and a long track record of successfully mentoring young players in area leagues.

Supported by dedicated assistants (Chris Wnek, Gerry Earley, Rich Curtis and Jon Salemno), our coaching staff creates an environment that prioritizes skill development, character building, and competitive excellence.

Our Board:

The committed parent volunteer board oversees all club operations—including scheduling, finances, fundraising, travel, and league compliance. This board ensures the program runs efficiently, remains financially sustainable, and stays true to our mission of developing outstanding student-athletes. Their hands-on involvement keeps CB West a true community-driven organization.
